Glasnevin Cemetery Record (351753) for William Ignatius Kiberd
William shares a grave with a Bridget Ryan, a 'spinster' born in 1866 and who died in May 1935. Glasnevin Trust Genealogist Department explained this as follows "The grave in question was, at the time of William Kiberd's death, owned by Glasnevin Trust. The Kiberd family paid for the burial but did not buy the grave. Then when Bridget Ryan came along to buy a grave, she purchased this one, knowing that there was previous burials in it. This is very common here in Glasnevin. We are a charity, so we bury people whether they can afford to buy a grave or not."
