William Kiberd

William Archibald Kiberd was born in 1831 (est) in London, England. All of the Irish Kiberds are all decended from William. He married Maria Ford from Dublin in 1857. An entry in the 1911 Irish census (crossed out - possibly by an enumerator) suggests that William and Maria had eight children of which only four were alive in 1911. We have the names of seven of William's children. The eldest child, Helena, does not appear in the 1901 census but is included in 1911. Lillie who appears in the 1901 census is not included in 1911. If she died she would have been aged 49 or less.

Died	21 December 1902	William died at home, 73 Great Britain St (Now Parnell St), Dublin 1, Ireland. Cause: "cardiac dropsy". Death Cert is below. William was buried in Mount Jerome cemetery on Tuesday 23 December (per death notice in Irish Times).

William and his sister, Christina, were witnesses at the wedding of John Edward Kenny and Mary Anne Markey on 29th August 1854.

Information to be gleaned from the certificate 1) William's father was Henry 2) Both were hatters by profession 3) although the eventual Kiberd family home was 73 Gt Britan St both groom and bride gave no.75 as their address 4) Maria was "minor" - probably 18 or 19 - at the time 5) They were married in the Church of Ireland.

Maria's father is identified as James Ford in the marriage record. According to Pettigrew & Oulton's Dublin City Street Listing there was a James Ford - umbrella & cap manufacturer - at this address in 1840.
